Rediscovering Our Roots: Speaker Notes from Church Builders of Kansas (Hutchinson, KS) 2026

Rediscovering Our Roots is the speaker’s notes from an Amish conference in Hutchinson, KS, in March 2026. This 156-page book will engross, inspire, educate, and encourage you in your own faith. It features more than 100 images and plenty of source material from at least two leading Anabaptist educators today.

Amish around the country are taking note of their heritage, and a renewing, organic refreshing is pouring over them. Countless are coming to personal faith and also rediscovering what brought them into being. This spiritual awakening is leading many to seek a deeper understanding of their faith and how to live faithfully within purely ethnic brethren. Like you, they have to balance the culture around them with the truth that requires deeper understanding and commitment.

I’ve spent more than three years living in close quarters with Amish in seven states. I can say they inspire me with their simplicity, industriousness, faith amid trial, and a private world that matches their public image. This book will encourage anyone in faith. It will teach you about a history most people outside Amish circles don’t know, and it will inspire you. This book will also show you what happens when faith anchors get moved, replaced, or rejected, increment by increment. The results are grizzly, but they serve as a warning to us today. History often repeats itself because we haven’t learned what we ought.

If you want to know about Amish culture and history, you couldn’t find a more basic, incisive volume.
