On this episode of Kingdom Citizenship, we explore the word “radical” and its connection to faith. Dan Avery, our guest, is a Bible translator, writer, husband, and father. We uncover the historical meaning of “radical” and its misuse throughout Christian history. Many believers have been unfairly labeled with this word as a pejorative. However, Avery helps us see its actual positive meaning. He guides us to “decode” the agenda behind the labelization and teaches us to “code switch,” empowering us to change the conversation from manipulation to contrast.

We learn about a different kind of “radical Christian” – as one not afraid to challenge the institutional order’s corruption by living according to the New Testament. Dan and I discuss the tension that arose when these “radical” Christians emerged and how the establishment order attempted to silence them. Lastly, we’re blessed to hear about Dan’s work as a biblical translator and his collaboration to write a modern-day Bible with translations based on the original Greek and Hebrew, a project that should fill us with hope and anticipation.
