In today’s competitive world, it’s hard to set yourself apart from everyone with a degree. Perhaps you don’t have a degree. How do you get heard? I’ve discovered that being well-spoken is one of the best equalizers. From a young age, I was a “word person.” Words caught me, or I had to know the nomenclature of everything. Such has served me well over the decades. I am often mistaken for having a higher education. I haven’t even started freshman year at any school.
Yet, the defining point that seems to offer me the opportunity is a good vocabulary. I began to record stories of how and from whom I learned a wealth of content that opened doors. In this presentation, I share a bit of my story to inspire others to learn by listening. A great vocabulary is in the ether all around us; in the books, conversations, and the media we consume, that just waiting for your attentiveness. This session shows how listening and refusing to be challenged by things I don’t know is a great way of living.
Despite his significant influence on education, John Amos Comenius remains relatively unknown in America today at any level in the education system. This is akin to attending an American Heritage conference where Thomas Jefferson is not recognized by anyone. This lecture aims to reintroduce Comenius to American audiences and inspire them with his monumental contributions to education.
Comenius, a 17th-century philosopher, theologian, and exile from Czech lands, is a figure of global importance. This presentation can be tailored to a secular or religious audience and was first presented at an international symposium of Fulbright Scholars at the University of Minnesota in 2022.
Today, despite a better political direction, no one is kidding themselves. Western Civilization is still in a nosedive. Christians are bewildered. Secular culture is now militant and aggressive. How can we engage with it? I share points from four key figures. I draw some parallels with how you and I can be like them in our times. Too many feel beaten down and stymied by the pervasiveness of “cancel culture” and thought police on social media.

Western Christianity seems to misunderstand a key part of Jesus’ message. Theological interpretations have clouded the issue, though few would know it. I will share many verses in the New Testament that go for want in modern interpretations. I will show that, when understood as intended, these ideas create dynamic believers.
They become like some of history’s most outstanding figures, such as Richard Wurmbrand and Corrie Ten Boom. Only those who want to weaken Christianity will deny this presentation. They see it only as a Sunday activity in special buildings. However, if you’re going to become like the earliest believers, this presentation will light you on fire.
So-called Artificial Intelligence is constantly being pushed in the media. Many religious folks fear it. There is more misunderstanding about this subject than reliable info about how “generative A.I.” can or can’t affect education. My multi-media PowerPoint presentation is sure to reassure Home Schoolers and Educators alike.
I will present my research and some others’ work. We show and conclude that traditional education is best, without using A.I. as it is being presented. Conversely, I can also show you how A.I. could be a tool to help learn better writing in ways I’ve not seen presented. There are some real positives out there that we can use to help our students learn.
A pair of old books opened my eyes to a segment of Christianity precious few know. As a result, we are missing a vast cavern of truth and inspiration that will encourage us as the days draw darker. This journey of exploration and growth holds the potential to inspire us as the days draw darker. Holing up in religious buildings, anxiously awaiting a catching out or 2nd Coming that will save our bacon, isn’t going to help.
When the world invades our cloistered lives, can we endure? Unless we begin to consider a number of matters, we will continue to think we’re ready to go come hell or high water. However, these same assurances have never held up historically. We’ll review some of them. This presentation will challenge you in your faith. It will inspire you as well.
No matter how tyrannical or evil the world becomes, they will always be susceptible to needing outside help. Several stories in history show us that the prior statement is true. We do not have to be like “the world”—especially in its most despicable embodiments. However, God often desires His followers to “go into that hell” to be a light, truth, and reality, but it can’t be for itself.
Several stories that drive home this point will be presented and show that it’s not just for special people. You and I can be those who would take “education”—or something similar into the secular—unsympathetic world because they need something they don’t have. We can be prepared to be Daniel(s), Esther(s), and Joseph(s). We can be God’s person of the hour, advancing His purposes while meeting unrelated needs.
Many ask, “Where do you go to church?” or What are your “affiliations” and associations? People often say, “I’m going to church” or “at church on Wednesday.” This reveals a false belief we accept without question. Its tradition, culture, and history. Yet, as we return to the New Testament and the earliest believers in their recorded history, we’ll find that we are far adrift. We are weakened by ignorance of the difference between Ekklesia and Church. Translators have misled us.
Theologians have not helped by bringing us back to the Bible on this subject. Credible videos on this subject surfaced recently that went viral. They deal with our side on this subject. Let’s learn together and go deeper in our faith practice. The situation is urgent, and we need to act now. We don’t have to lay an axe to everything to functionally re-embrace God’s ideas, but it won’t be easy because many in our own camp want to maintain everything as it has always been.
Writing is still the best way to share a complete idea. Novels, fiction, and poetry are great mediums. However, non-fiction is, without a doubt, a powerful tool for truth. It’s not just medium for individuals with three or more abbreviation letters behind their names.
